Elbit Systems has teamed up with Windward to offer integrated maritime solutions for India. The move combines Windward's satellite-based maritime analytics system MarInt with Elbit's wide range of solutions for maritime domain awareness, including the Hermes 900 unmanned air system.
The companies say their co-operation addresses the specific needs of India's vast and complex maritime arena, with the equipment to be exhibited at the Aero India 2013 show in Bengaluru on 6-10 February.

MarInt maps maritime activity based on data collected from sources such as commercial satellites, open-source databases and other sensors. It can be used to support maritime domain awareness covering areas such as exclusion zone monitoring, fisheries control, regional traffic analysis or port traffic management. Behavioural analysis performed on vessels spotted in a designated area of interest can indicate suspicious behaviour.
The maritime Hermes 900 is a new configuration of Elbit's largest UAS, adapted for maritime operations. It can carry a mission payload of up to 350kg (770lb), including a maritime surveillance radar, automatic identification system equipment, an electro-optical/infrared sensor and electronic surveillance systems.
Elbit says the aircraft has the endurance required to cover vast ocean areas, with line-of-sight and satellite communications links and radio relay allowing operators to talk to vessels during patrols flown at extended range.
