Thales Training & Simulation (TTS) has been awarded a €200 million ($184 million) contract from Eurofighter Simulation Systems to supply equipment for the fighter's synthetic training aids. ESS will deliver 31 simulators over nine years to the air forces of Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. ESS is a consortium of CAE Electronik and STN Atlas (from Germany), Meteor (Italy), Indra (Spain) and TTS (UK). The Netherlands has ordered five primary radars, the same number of secondary radars and a centralised automation system and associated communications infrastructure from Raytheon Systems UK in a deal valued at €41 million. The programme is scheduled to be finished within three years. Pakistan has acquired 16 Mil Mi-17 Hips from Russia according to Iftikhir Murshed, Pakistan's ambassador in Moscow. Ultra Electronics has won a £9 million ($13. 22 million) order for SSQ-955 HIDAR passive sonobuoys from the UK Ministry of Defence. TRW has been awarded a $13 million US Army contract to develop and field a ground-based Guardrail Information Node to support the Army's Raytheon RC-12 Guardrail signals intelligence aircraft. Agusta has awarded Thomson Marconi Sonar a contract to supply and integrate the FLASH sonar with the 14 NH Industries NH90 helicopters on order for the French navy. Boeing has been awarded a $32.2 million contract to develop an audio enhancement to the communication system on the E-4B command-post aircraft. Taiwan is to acquire 40 Raytheon AGM-65GMaverick missiles, 48 LAU-117 launchers, 10 training missiles and other items in a deal valued at $18 million. Malaysia is to acquire Northrop Grumman ALQ-165(V) Airborne Self-Protection Jammer for its Boeing F/A-18D Hornets in a deal valued at $45 million.
