Malaysia has confirmed its order for six Eurocopter AS555SNFennec helicopters for training and over-the-horizon targeting duties (Flight International, 16-22 October). Deliveries will be in late 2003 and the deal is worth g42 million ($38 million). Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $26 million US Air Force contract for advanced procurement in support of the 16th E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System aircraft. Israel Military Industries has won a $6.2 million USAF contract to build 100 2,275litre (600USgal) drop tanks and 105 non-jettisonable pylons. The French defence procurement agency, the DGA, has awarded SNPE Explosives and Propellants a Fr171 million ($23 million) contract and SAMP a Fr189 million order for 6,000 Mk82, Mk83, Mk84, BLU-109 and BLU-111 weapons. SAMP will provide bodies and accessories while SNPE will provide the explosive charges. BAE Systems Australia has been handed a A$50 million ($25million) contract to manage the Woomera rocket range in South Australia and internationally market its use for 10 years. BAE - teamed with Eurest and Australian facilities management group GHD - will take over services provision, security and range infrastructure support. The German defence ministry has committed to the fitting of EuroDASS electronic warfare equipment to its Eurofighters. As a result EADS' Systems and Defence Electronic business unit has been awarded work worth €70 million this year and €700 million over 15 years. Langkawi R&D Academy (Lardac) has been awarded a 48 million ringgit ($16.6 million) contract to upgrade the avionics and radar of the Malaysian air force's NorthropF-5 fighters according to a report in the New Straits Times. BAE Systems has been given a $17.5 million contract by the USAF's Warner Robbins Air Logistics Center to provide ALE-47 countermeasures systems, including cockpit displays, safety systems, sequencers and dispensers.
