++Thailand's air force has signed a $66 million contract with Elbit Systems for the upgrade of 31 Northrop F-5s (Flight International, 18-24 April). The deal includes logistical support and supply of the Python 4 infrared-guided short range air-to-air missile.
++ Aerojet has received a $5 million US Army contract to develop a controllable thrust rocket motor for the Modernised Hellire, Common Missile and Compact Kinetic Energy Missile. Flight tests are planned for 2003. The technology will allow one rocket motor to be used for multiple missile applications.
++ Israel Aircraft Industries' MLM has won a $5 million deal to supply the Thai air force with rangeless debriefing systems, which will be installed on the F-5s and Lockheed Martin F-16.
++ Raytheon has received a $26 million USAir Force contract for the first 11 of 213 GSN-30/ASR-11 terminal area air traffic control radars for the US Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration. Deliveries begin in October next year.
++ Boeing is to develop a kit to integrate its Joint Direct Attack Munition on to Lockheed Martin F-16s for the Israeli air force.
++ The US Army has selected Rockwell Collins' HF Messenger software to create a high-frequency gateway for its Tactical Internet, allowing helicopter-to-ground data communications.
++ BFGoodrich has received orders worth $25 million for engine turbine blades, nozzle segments and impellers. Engines covered under the deal include the General Electric F101, T38and F404 and Pratt &Whitney TF-33.
++ Bofors Missiles has signed a letter of intent to outsource all electronics production at Bofors' Karlskoga factory to Combitech Electronics, allowing the missile house to concentrate on development, final assembly and testing.
++ Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems has won a contract worth more than $2.5 million to upgrade two FPS-117 radars for the UK Royal Air Force.
