Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a $72 million US Department of Defense contract to continue propulsion-system engineering risk reduction and initiate production of schedule-critical long-lead hardware to ensure a smooth transition from Joint Strike Fighter concept demonstration phase to the engineering and manufacturing development phase. CACI International has won a five-year, $8.5 million contract from the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Sensors Directorate to supply integrated electronic warfare threat environment applications research as part of AFRL's advanced EW technology development programme. Canada's Spar Aerospace has won a C$5 million ($3.2million) Canadian Department of National Defence contract to prototype structural and electrical system improvements for the Canadian Forces' Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules fleet. The programme is to be concluded in June next year. The US Army has exercised a contract option with AAI - worth $19.4 million - for four additional RQ-7 Shadow 200 tactical unmanned air vehicle systems. Northrop Grumman has received $23.6 million from the US Navy to produce 78 BQM-74E aerial targets and associated systems. The first target is due for delivery in February and the last in January 2003. BFGoodrich has been selected by Agusta to supply collision avoidance, navigation and standby instrument systems for US Coast Guard MH-68 Makos (A109E Powers). Boeing and the USAF have concluded a deal for an additional 10 F-15Es, which will sustain production of the fighter until 2004. The deal is worth $571.1 million and will allow Boeing to continue offering the F-15 as an in-production fighter to South Korea for its F-X requirement. Derco Aerospace has selected BFGoodrich to supply its GH-3000 electronic standby instrument system for the Botswana Air Defence Force C-130 Hercules upgrade programme.
