General Dynamics Canada is to provide a new data management system for Canadian Forces Lockheed CP-140 Aurora maritime patrol aircraft under a C$198 million ($128 million) contract. Thales Systems Canada has won a C$111 million contract to supply communications management systems for the CP-140. The contracts are part of the Aurora Incremental Modernisation Programme.
Northrop Grumman is to develop a kit to install the large aircraft infrared countermeasures (LAIRCM) system on Lockheed Martin C-130s under a $12.9 million US Air Force contract. The LAIRCM is a laser-based directed infrared countermeasures system.
Under a $7.6 million contract, Northrop Grumman is to supply 44 ring laser gyro inertial-navigation systems for retrofit into Egyptian Lockheed Martin F-16 C/DBlock 32s originally supplied in the mid-1980s under the Peace Vector II programme.
Taiwan's Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation has become first customer for the Meggitt Voodoo high-speed target, ordering six air vehicles and ground support equipment. Deliveries start at year-end.
Boeing is to provide spacecraft integration services for the US Air Force's Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle programme. In an $11.5 million Multiple Space Vehicle deal, Boeing will integrate one primary and up to six secondary spacecraft into one payload.
Northrop Grumman has won a seven-year, $14-million contract under the US Air Force Research Laboratory's Sensor Technology Applications Development and Evaluation project to investigate technologies to provide near real-time high-resolution imagery and timely updates of signals intelligence/ electronic warfare threat data into the cockpit. Other objectives include multi-source data and imagery fusion, correlation and distribution into and out of the cockpit in real time: rapid re-tasking and route-planning for surveillance and strike platforms; stand-off precision strike; and increased survivability.
n Raytheon will supply enhanced high-band subsystems to upgrade two US Air Force Lockheed Martin EC-130H Compass Call stand-off jamming aircraft. The upgrade will increase frequency coverage and processing power.
