Saab's AerotechTelub unit has received a SKr28 million ($3.6 million) Swedish Defence Materiel Administration contract to modernise the RBS 77 air defence system, based on the Raytheon Hawk surface-to-air missile. The system will be renamed RBS 97 after modification of the target illuminating radar and gun mounting. ThalesRaytheon Systems is to provide the battle control system (BCS) to replace 1980s- vintage US Air Force air defence command and control equipment. The initial $22.3 million contract covers fixed sites in North America and the Pacific. Options cover extra fixed sites and spiral development of the open-architecture BCS for use in mobile control centres. General Atomics is to deliver three IGNAT unmanned air vehicles to the US Army, to accelerate its unmanned air vehicle concept of operations for the objective force, under an $8 million contract. Raytheon is to produce 329 AGM-65H/K Maverick air-to-surface missiles under a $110.2 million US Air Force contract. Abu Dhabi-based GAMCO has signed a contract with EADS CASA to support the UAE Air Force's CN-235 transports. L-3 Communications' Link Simulation & Training division is to upgrade the Northrop Grumman B-2 training system in a $22.1 million US Air Force contract. Lockheed Martin Aircraft and Logistics Center in Greenville, South Carolina, is to continue P-3 phased depot maintenance in an $82.2 million US Navy contract. CFM International has received a $365 million contract for up to 88 F108 (CFM56) turbofans to re-engine US Air Force Boeing KC/RC-135s. Thales Optics is to supply optical modules to BAE Systems for the Boeing C-17 head-up display under a £2 million ($3.3 million) contract. Science Applications International is to develop advanced countermeasure techniques for use against next-generation infrared missiles and sensors in a $28.8 million US Air Force contract.
