L-3 Wescam has received a Northrop Grumman contract for M11 digital video electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) countermine step-stare sensor systems for the four-year system development and demonstration phase of the US Army's Airborne Standoff Minefield Detection System. The deal is valued at $8.4 million, of which $1.6 million is funded. CAE has received a five-year C$14 million ($10.3 million) US Air Force contract to continue training General Atomics RQ-1 Predator unmanned air vehicle crews. DRS Technologies has received an extra $2.8 million from the US Navy for engineering development models of the Virtual Imaging System for Approach and Landing (Visual). Visual combines forward-looking infrared sensors, an automated aircraft tracking system and a new landing signal officer workstation to reduce the risk in carrier landings. Northrop Grumman has received a $49 million, four-year USN support contract for the repair and retrofit of avionics. The deal covers the Grumman F-14 Tomcat, Lockheed S-3B Viking, Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler, Northrop Grumman E-2C Hawkeye, and Sikorsky SH-3 Sea Kingand SH-60F Seahawk. Goodrich is to supply its Integrated Mechanical Diagnostics, Health & Usage Management Systems for USN MH-60R/S helicopters. The deal is expected to cover more than 500 machines. Lockheed Martin has received a $260 million not-to-exceed contract for a Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile segment enhancement. This will develop the missile to counter evolving threats. The Greek Cypriot government is to order MBDA Aspide and Mistral surface-to-air missiles, say local reports, in a deal expected to be worth $118 million. The German air force has selected STN Atlas Elektronik and CAE Elektronik to supply the Avior laser projection system for Panavia Tornado IDS simulators at Hollomann AFB, New Mexico. CAE will also supply its Medallion-S visual system. Its contract share is valued at €9.3 million ($10.7 million).
