The US Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a $100 million contract to modify four in-service EC-130E airborne battlefield management and six WC-130H hurricane hunters to HC-130P combat search-and-rescue aircraft. The work will be completed in 2007. The US Congress has been notified of the potential sale of a roll-on/roll-off electronic intelligence system to Egypt. Two systems have been requested for C-130H transports, and the deal would be worth $60 million. Egypt has also requested a purchase of 414 Raytheon AIM-9M-1/2 infrared-guided, short-range air-to-air missiles. The contract would be worth $50 million. General Electric Aircraft Engines has been awarded a $510 million US Navy performance-based logistics contract covering 36 components of the F404-400/402 engine. The company has also has received an $8.2 million USAF contract for 167 digital electronic control kits for the F101 engine in the Rockwell B-1B bomber. CAE has received a C$13 million ($9.2 million) deal to upgrade two US Army Boeing AH-64A Apache combat mission simulators. Lockheed Martin has received a $20 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity USAF contract for versatile affordable advanced turbine engine (VAATE) phase I hybrid bearings. VAATE is a Department of Defense/Nasa/Department of Energy Industry programme for innovative engine technologies. Lockheed Martin/Boeing joint venture Team Apache Systems has received a $10.4 million US Army deal for production of the Arrowhead modernised target acquisition designation sight/pilot's night vision sensor for the Apache.
