More than 10,000 corporate and general aviation aircraft, valued at $84.6 billion, will be produced over the next decade, says a study released by market research company Forecast/DNS.

The review - World Market for Business Aircraft and Rotorcraft - 2000-2009 - predicts deliveries of around 5,600 corporate jets, 1,600 turboprops, 2,350 piston-powered aircraft and 700 rotary-wing machines during the period.

Forecast/DNS senior aircraft analyst Bill Dane says: "The business jet segment is doing particularly well, buoyed by the rapidly growing fractional ownership programmes, which are bringing new participants into the executive aviation fold. New aircraft soon to make their first appearance - medium business jets like the Cessna Sovereign - could account for 20% of new sales, due to marketing initiatives like fractional ownership."

The study forecasts that Raytheon will out-produce all other manufacturers, pulling in a 24% market share in terms of aircraft shipments, followed by Cessna with 18% and New Piper Aircraft with 12%.

Cessna and Dassault sales will during the period each top $14 billion, but "Bombardier will outdistance" the field, with production worth $19.2 billion.
