The first Sikorsky S-92 helicopter equipped with a Goodrich rescue hoist has been delivered to Cougar Helicopters.

The AC-powered hoist uses a proprietary square motor design offering Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) protection enabling the hoist to pass the strictest military requirements.

Steve Loye, vice president of Goodrich Hoist and Winch, says: "This milestone further strengthens our relationship with Sikorsky. In addition, our technology offers the rescue community advanced safety for both aircrews and accident victims.

The safety of our hoist is enhanced by proprietary systems that allow the hoist to function at unlimited fleet angles and without the need for cool down.

"The hoist also incorporates symmetrical braking which enables rapid but smooth directional changes. This is crucial to the safety of a rescue swimmer, especially in high seas or swift water."
