The UK Civil Aviation Authority is running a training course on the impact of human factors in aviation accidents and incidents at Gatwick in September.

The three-day course in Human Factors Training in Aircraft Maintenance will use real-life examples and practical exercises to demonstrate how human factors and performance issues can have an impact on maintenance programmes.

It is particularly aimed at companies that are European Aviation Safety Agency Part 145 approved for maintenance work or are applying for that status.

Mary Lejeune, manager of training and business development at the CAA’s international services department, says: “The course will provide delegates with a framework on which they can build their own human factors training programme and reinforce the message that proper attention to human factors will reduce errors and lead to increased safety, quality and efficiency.”

Details of the course, to be held on 13-15 September, are available from training@srg.caa.co.uk

  •  Women interested in flight training could receive free lessons under a competition being run by the British Women Pilots Association (BWPA).

In conjunction with flight training schools in the UK and France, 50 free lessons are available. Closing date is 31 October. A form is on the BWPA’s website (www.bwpa.co.uk).
