Reports from the Democratic Republic of Congo indicate that a large transport aircraft which crashed at Kisangani airport is a Boeing 727 operated by Hewa Bora Airways.
Weather at the time is said to have been poor.
One report, citing the head of the carrier, has stated that there are 53 fatalities. Earlier reports indicated 112 occupants and at least 40 survivors.
All airlines in the Democratic Republic of Congo are blacklisted by the European Commission.
