Smiths Industries of the UK has reported a 14% rise in aerospace sales to £529 million ($875 million) for the year ended 31 July, with aerospace profits up by 28% to £99 million - the third successive year of near-30% profit growth. The company says the improvement "largely resulted from success in winning business on major aircraft programmes, and from controlling overheads".
