Czech software specialist Inter-Informatics is on target to quintuple business since 2003 on the back of a dramatic ramp-up in work for Airbus, as it pushes to meet airlines’ requirements for customised cabin interiors.

Revenues have gone from €2 million ($2.4 million) in 2003 to more than €10 million, and employment has risen from 25 in 2002 to 300 and is expected to hit 500 within two years. Managing director Jirí Polácek says the leap reflects the fact that Airbus is “desperate” for high-level engineers for three-dimensional design work on cabin interiors, wiring and plumbing. “Of our 298 designers, 90% have degrees,” he says. The Prague-based company’s subsidiary, TC Inter-Informatics, is dedicated to Airbus, but it hopes to win work for Boeing through its links with Labinal, which provides wiring for the 787. “We’d like to broaden our portfolio because we have become very dependent on Airbus.” Inter-Informatics also provides product life management solutions for Airbus Spain.

The company has a permanent team at Airbus Germany’s Hamburg centre, but is planning to expand beyond its existing 2,500m2 (27,000ft2) premises.
