BAE Systems has announced the team roster for its bid to meet the UK Ministry of Defence's Project Marshall next-generation air traffic control requirement.

Announced at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition in London on 13 September, the BAE-led team also includes Altran Praxis, Indra and LFV Aviation Consulting.

Formerly referred to as the Joint Military Air Traffic Services programme - and with a proposed 22-year running time - Project Marshall is seeking a contractor to deliver replacement air traffic control and management equipment at UK air bases, air weapon ranges and during deployed operations.

"Work to date has already identified a number of alternative solutions, all of which can provide a more efficient service at reduced cost, whilst maintaining operational effectiveness," said Steve Timms, BAE's managing director, defence information, training and services. "The team is confident that our combined capabilities and track record will provide a value for money and technically compliant solution."

Other previously identified bidders for the Project Marshall deal include the Babcock/NATS Services/Thales UK Aquila Air Traffic Management Services consortium; Fusion Air Traffic Management: a combination of Lockheed Martin, Selex Systems Integration and Cobham and a partnership between Raytheon and Serco.

Several teams have been shortlisted for the next phase of the competition, with BAE confirming that its bid is among those to go forward.
