Crane Aerospace Electronics (stand C310) is at the show demonstrating its range of upgrade solutions to aircraft and its commitment to the Middle East region

The US company, a segment of Crane Company, offers manufacturers and airlines one source for sensing, such as controlling the landing gear and door systems, power, braking fluid management and seat actuation.

"We are here to show our improvements to our upgrade solutions," says Martin McCarthy, vice-president strategy. "The Middle East is a very important region, especially since we opened an office in Jebel Ali last year."

The company is also displaying its new wireless tyre pressure sensing system, SmartStem.

"It's the first of its kind as you don't even need to touch the valve. It replaces existing tyre inflation valve stems, doesn't require batteries as it is powered wirelessly during interrogation by hand-held tyre pressure reader. The reader displays the tyre pressure and temperature along with date, time and aircraft tail number and wheel position and the data is automatically logged and easily downloaded. It saves time," says McCarthy.

Also being displayed is its new advanced battery charger.

McCarthy says: "The 8-930 Battery Charger provides significant cost-of-ownership advantages to operators, including higher reliability, enhanced fault isolation, built-in test capabilities, and compatibility with the new SAFT Ultra Low Maintenance battery."

The battery is now certificated to be retrofittable as an upgrade on all Boeing 737 Classics and is interchangeable for use on 747s, 757s and 767s.

"Our products are found in some of the toughest environments, from aircraft engines and landing gear to space satellites and power systems and from missiles to unmanned aerial systems. We are excited to show off our new products and let the region know how we have improved and upgraded existing systems and products," says McCarthy.
