Bombardier has announced the sale of a Learjet 45XR and a Challenger 605 to Nigerian-based Dana Airlines in a deal worth $39 million at list prices.

Delivery of the Learjet 45XR is slated for March next year, with the Challanger 605 due in 2010. Dana will use the aircraft for its charter service, which will run alongside its start-up low cost domestic scheduled service next April.

“With their category-leading performance and safety standards, coupled with their superior cabin comfort and payload range, these aircraft are the ideal choice us to provided world-class charter services for both business and VIP travellers,” says Dana Group director Vandana Hathiramani. “This order reflects our commitment to developing the full range of air travel services in Nigeria, which we believe can contribute immensely to the growth of the country’s economy.”

The Learjet 45 XR has a 2,000nm plus range, with a cruise speed of 465kt. Powered by two Honeywell TFE7361-20-BR delivering 3,500lb of thrust and features Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics.

The Challenger 605 is the latest addition to the Challenger series of business jets and entered service in January this year.  The manufacturer claims it has the widest stand-up cabin of any large category business jet available today. Powered by twin General Electric CF34-3Bs giving 8,729lbf and features Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line 21 avionics.
