Two of the three companies bidding to supply the UAE with its next generation basic trainer aircraft have received notification that they are on a shortlist of two. They are Aermacchi M-311 and the Pilatus PC-21.
Embraer, manufacturers of the Super Tucano, which sent no defence executives to the show, said last night: “We have received no news on this, and officially the competition is still open.”
