Mechtronix has been selected by El Salvador-based airline TACA for the supply of a Level D full-motion flight simulator for the Airbus A320.

The order also includes three Airbus A320 Aerosim Virtual Procedures Trainers. TACA operates a fleet of more than 30 Airbus A320 family aircraft and serves 10 major cities in North America, all of Central America and business and tourist destinations in South America and the Caribbean.

Catherine Bellemare, Mechtronix’s marketing coordinator, says that the company hopes to announce another major deal very soon. Headquartered in Montreal, Canada, the seeds of Mechtronix were sown 20 years ago in a R&D lab at Montreal’s Concordia University when four graduate students were assigned a project to build the first flight simulator using new micro-processor technology.

Its flight training equipment is now marketed under the Ascent product line. To date, nearly 100 Ascent units have been built and delivered for aircraft ranging from the Boeing 737 to the Bombardier CRJ200.
