Dubai 2003 has stolen a march on other world airshows by installing a wireless LAN. Showgoers who rent or buy an adapter – available at the show from Cisco – can enjoy full internet connectivity literally anywhere on the site.

The airshow follows the lead of Dubai International Airport where a wireless LAN has been installed for three years. It is the only Middle East airport to have done so.

Cisco is selling its Aeronet Series 350 wireless LAN adapter from stands in the entrance and west halls.

Technically known as PCMCIA, these cards give travellers quick and easy access to the internet.

Radio modules provide transparent wireless data communications between fixed, portable or mobile devices and other wireless devices of a wired network infrastructure.

Host devices, such as laptops, notebook computers, personal digital assistants and hand-held or portable devices must be equipped with an internal Type II or Type III PC card slot to take a PCMCIA.
