Embraer's airliner output declined 25% in 2009 to 122 aircraft from the 162 delivered in the year before. Meanwhile, its net orders for its commercial programmes during the year were in deficit.
The Brazilian airframer's 2009 shipments to the commercial sector comprised seven ERJ-145s, 22 E-170s, 11 E-175s, 62 E-190s and 20 E-195s. In total, Embraer delivered 244 aircraft for the full year 2009 (including 115 executive jets), surpassing its previous estimate of 242 deliveries. During the fourth quarter alone, the company delivered 91 aircraft across the commercial, executive and defence sectors.
On the sales front the airframer's airliner models suffered more cancellations than orders during 2009, with the E-Jet family's net orders standing at -14 and the ERJ-145 on -25.
The combined commercial backlog has dropped by more than one-third over the past 12 months from 426 aircraft to 265. Embraer's firm order backlog was worth $16.6 billion on 31 December.
