Europe's general and business aviation manufacturers have set up their own version of the USA's successful General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

The European General Aviation Manufacturers Group says its aim will be to "co-ordinate certain industry issues at a European strategic high-level angle" and "foster common co-ordinated industrial views". It will become a sectoral group of the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).

ASD president Charles Edelstenne, who also heads Dassault Aviation, says: "In Europe alone, there are between 30,000 and 50,000 general aviation aircraft in use. Business aviation is also growing twice as fast as the traditional commercial airline sector."
