Diamond Aircraft's four-seat DA40-180 Diamond Star was awarded US Federal Aviation Administration type certification on 9 April. FAA deputy administrator Monte Belger presented the type certificate to Diamond Aircraft chief executive Christian Dries during a ceremony at the show. The $189,900 all-composite Diamond Star is powered by the Textron Lycoming 135kW (180hp) IO-360 engine, providing a 147kt (270km/h) cruise speed.
