Fairchild Dornier has won six orders from four customers for its 328JET in executive jet and air ambulance configurations.

Tyrolean Jet Service of Innsbruck, Austria, has become the launch customer, with an order for one aircraft in its corporate version, plus one for an air ambulance, to be delivered in 1999 and 2000, respectively. Tyrolean already operates the aircraft in its turboprop version.

Munich-based executive charter company MTM Aviation has signed a letter of intent for one 328JET executive aircraft to be delivered in 1999, following delivery of a 328 turboprop in March.

Fairchild Dornier president Jim Robinson says that two more orders are expected from a customer in Switzerland, and that one more, from a client in Africa (thought to be Shell) is imminent.

Before the latest orders, revealed at the aircraft's official premiere at Fairchild Dornier's Oberpfaffenhofen site, near Munich, the company had 32 firm orders and options. The 328JET is expected to enter service with launch airline Proteus in early 1999.
