Martin Wright, executive director, North West Aerospace Alliance, is rightly buoyant about the state of the industry in Northern England. With 45 companies and its largest ever space at the show, the alliance has just gone through a re-brand which has modernised its marketing.

“We are confident our united approach to technology clusters will put us in a great position to respond to the need for efficiencies,” says Wright.

He adds the low cost of the US dollar, high fuel costs and the credit crunch were more ‘short-term’ issues for the region. “The North West is still a manufacturing area and, unlike other parts of the country, isn’t playing second fiddle to the financial services sector.”
