Pilots have begun training at the Rotorsim helicopter simulator centre jointly owned by AgustaWestland and CAE. The first class is undergoing initial and recurrent training on the A109 Power light twin at the centre in Sesto Calende, Italy.
In addition to classroom and computer-based training, students will use a CAE-built full-mission simulator, which was awarded Level D-equivalent certification - the first for an A109 simulator -by Italian civil aviation authority ENAC in June.
CAE will deliver two more roll-on/roll-off cockpits for the A109 simulator next year, and late this year will install the first simulator for the AW139 medium twin in the centre. The AW139 machine will also be able to accept the A109 cockpits.
