Indian maintenance, repair and overhaul firm Air Works is in talks with engine manufacturers to offer more complex MRO services on their products.
"We are trying to make certain inroads in this area in six to eight months' time," says Air Works director and group head of business development Ravi Menon.
The Mumbai-based MRO firm currently offers basic work on engines and is an authorised service centre for Honeywell turbofan engines.
It is now in talks with Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce to offer MRO services for their turbofan engines, adds Menon.
"We see a future in building up this area, and we are trying to establish a rapport with them," he says.
Air Works also acquired British aircraft refinisher Air Livery in February and has started construction of a paint hangar at Hosur airport near Bangalore in southern India, which will be fully functional in 2011.
The MRO firm does not plan to make any changes to Air Livery, which has facilities at four airports in the UK.
