Embraer decided against bringing any of its executive jets to this year's show as the business aviation downturn continues to bite. The Brazilian manufacturer did not take any of its business jets to last year's Paris air show either.

"We like Farnborough a lot, but in the difficult years of 2009 and 2010 we have in business aviation concentrated on EBACE and we had to reduce our presence in Farnborough this year, like last year in Paris," says Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer executive vice-president, executive aviation.

"At EBACE we had the full squadron there - the two Phenoms, the Legacy 600 and the Lineage," he adds. "We are at Farnborough of course, but we had to cut back. When the business improves we will re-evaluate. Embraer is always strongly represented by defence and commercial at Paris and Farnborough.

Unlike this year's EBACE in Geneva, Embraer have decided to not bring any of its executive jets to Farnborough

"In business aviation we have more shows - too many - which are specific, such as EBACE, NBAA and ABACE. These we go to in full force. For the ones which are not as specific, since Embraer is there with a big representation we are reducing our participation in business jets.

"If there is a customer through the door, we will be there to entertain the customer. We can have a presence without being in the static," says Affonso.
