Qantas is expanding the number of Q400s operated by its QantasLink subsidiary after placing an order with Bombardier for seven aircraft.
Deliveries of the Q400 NextGen are scheduled to start from the first half of 2011.
Once the deliveries are complete QantasLink will operate a total of 28 Q400s.
"Qantas has invested A$600 million [$530 million] in 21 Bombardier Q400 aircraft over the last four years," says carrier chief executive Alan Joyce. "The aircraft really suits QantasLink's operations and is extremely popular with the airline's customers."
