An Edinburgh Air Charter Cessna 404 crashed close to the boundary of Glasgow airport after take off at about midday on 3 September in good weather. It had been chartered for a flight to Aberdeen. Eight of the 11 on board are believed to have died and three were injured. It is the first fatal fixed wing public transport accident in the UK since May 1995.
