FedEx has signed an agreement with maintenance software supplier Enigma in a two-part deal for the management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and OEM maintenance revisions.

Engima is deploying its software platform from the Memphis headquarters of FedEx for more than 7,000 internal end-users and thousands of third-party maintainers.

The first phase is already in use by the carrier and includes custom job card generation, and distribution for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. During the second phase FedEx plans to use the Enigma platform to publish service information for its entire fleet, using the services oriented architecture to integrate maintenance information with other systems including inventory, scheduling, configuration management, onboard diagnostics and editing systems.

FedEx in July launched its inaugural Boeing 757 freighter flight and plans to introduce 11 of the aircraft into service over the next year.
