Toronto, Canada-based Field Aviation is flight-testing the first of three modified Bombardier Challenger 604 multi-mission aircraft for the Royal Danish Air Force. The aircraft is equipped with a Telephonics maritime-surveillance radar housed in a large forward-fuselage radome and retractable FLIR Systems electro-optical sensor under the aft fuselage. The aircraft will be used for fisheries surveillance, environmental protection, ice reconnaissance, search and rescue, medical evacuation and VIP transport. Range is critical as the aircraft must fly directly from Denmark to Greenland to patrol the economic exclusion zone.
