Qatar Airways’ first Airbus A350-1000 has reached the stage of contractual definition freeze.
The airframer confirms that the Middle Eastern operator’s initial -1000 achieved the target on 4 May.
Qatar Airways has 37 of the type on order. The -1000 is the larger variant of the A350, with a maximum take-off weight of 308t and typical accommodation for 366 passengers.
The carrier has also ordered 43 A350-900s and will received the fourth, MSN10, shortly.
Assembly started last month on the initial fixed trailing edge for the -1000.
Airbus states that the trailing edge will be delivered to its UK wing plant at Broughton, for final assembly, “after the summer break”.
Final assembly of the -1000 is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2016.
