MD Helicopters has secured a follow-on contract covering 12 MD530F light scout attack helicopters for the Afghan air force.
The order, awarded through the US Army, comes days after MD Helicopters announced that it had delivered the last examples from a previous Afghan contract for 30 MD530Fs.
As with the earlier 30-example sale, the new 12-example sale falls under the five-year, $1.4 billion IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) package the company signed with the US government in September 2017 that covers up to 150 MD530 rotorcraft for partner nations.
Afghan MD530Fs come with ballistic protection, fixed-forward sites, .50 calibre machine gun pods, and M260 seven-shot rocket pods.
MD Helicopters gave no details as to when deliveries for the latest order will commence.
