China's HNA Group has signalled its intention to add 200 Comac C919s and 100 ARJ21s regional jets to its group fleet under a commercial pact struck with the manufacturer.
The two parties have signed what they term a "strategic co-operation agreement" covering introduction of the aircraft. It is unclear, however, if the agreement represents a firm order, or a mix of orders and options.
HNA says some of the jets ordered will be deployed with its Chinese carriers, and with affiliate carrier Ghana's Africa World Airlines.
Under the agreement, the two parties will co-operate on maintenance, training, and leasing at a later stage.
Both parties say that the deal is in line with the country's 'One Belt, One Road' and 'Made in China 2025' policies.
HNA's flagship carrier Hainan Airlines holds orders for 20 C919s, which forms part of the orderbook of 305 for the type.
Flight Fleets Analzyer shows that there are orders for 197 ARJ21s.
