Australian airline flight training provider Flight Training Adelaide is set to take delivery of its first helicopter as the company branches out into helicopter flight training.

Parafield Airport-based Flight Training Adelaide, which is the former BAE Systems Flight Training Australia business, has acquired a Schweizer 300CBi that will be available for ad hoc training from next month, says chief executive Keith Morgan.

The company has traditionally offered flight training to airlines, primarily Asian carriers, but after assessing the local market it has determined that such a service is not readily available in the country.

"We see it expanding rapidly," says Morgan, adding that it is targeting emergency medical services and other helicopter operators.
