Garmin’s GDL 69A datalink receiver featuring XM WX satellite weather and XM radio will now be included with all Cessna single-engine piston Nav III avionics installations – excluding the 172R GA.
This system will be retrofitted in all Nav III aircraft in the field. It includes next-generation radar and access to TAFs, METARS, temporary flight restrictions and lightning and winds aloft information.
“It adds layers of safety and makes flying more enjoyable than ever,” says Cessna’s president Jack Pelton.
The XM WX satellite weather service is broadcast in the S-band frequency via satellite and can provide rapid high-resolution weather information on the ground or in the air – it is capable of receiving even during intense storm cells.
