Precision Castparts, which has been given US Federal Trade Commission go-ahead to acquire high-performance nickel-based alloys and super alloys producer Special Metals. The deal, originally announced last year, is expected to close within the next two weeks. Mark Donegan, chairman and chief executive of the metal components and products manufacturer, expects “major benefits going forward as we drive aggressively for cost reductions and market share gains”.
