Goodrich (Hall 4, Stand F8) is here with news of major contracts for work on some of the world's key civil and military aerospace programmes.

The US-headquartered systems giant has been selected to carry out build-up work for the Engine Alliance GP7200 on the Airbus A380 and to supply new brakes for the A320.

Its materials technology and ice detection are to go into the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) lift-fan clutch. Boeing has chosen Goodrich to provide landing gear for F/A-18E/F Super Hornet follow-on orders. And a Goodrich air data system will go into the X-47B UAV demonstrator.

The Goodrich Aerostructures team in Toulouse will perform post-shipment final assembly and build-up of the first GP7200 engines for the A380, to be delivered to Airbus next summer. The work will also include flight-line support of the Engine Alliance during engine build-up.

Goodrich is also providing the A380's body and wing landing gear and evacuation systems, pylon aft fairings and rear secondary structure, seating, air data system, primary and secondary conventional and electro-hydraulic flight controls, variable-frequency electrical power, cargo mechanical system, and LED-based exterior lighting.

The new A320 brake, based on Goodrich's new Duracarb carbon heat-sink material, is on show here. It also embodies several design changes to improve reliability. Certification is scheduled for late this year, with entry into service planned for early 2005.
