Honeywell Aviation Services has developed a new communications service for the business jet market called OneLink, which will allow calls to be made to aircraft from the ground.

Unlike current limited services, the caller will be able to reach the aircraft without having to know which of the four Inmarsat satellites is providing the function. OneLink uses Inmarsat Aero H, Aero H+, Aero I and Aero L aeronautical services to deliver voice, fax and personal computer data, and will use Satellite Aircom ground-to-earth stations.

Honeywell Communication Services has set up a customer response centre to locate the aircraft and connect calls. "Customers dial a toll-free number from anywhere in the world, give their PIN [personal identification number] and get connected" says the company's Aviation Services business unit director, Larry Bowe.
