The restructuring of Honeywell’s aerospace business will result in the loss of 2,000 jobs – 5% of the division’s workforce – by year-end. In a bid to simplify the company, Honeywell Aerospace has been re-organised into three “customer-facing” business units – air transport, business and regional, and defence and space – supported by cross-company functional units including engineering (Flight International, 14-20 June). Honeywell’s Aerospace sales increased 8% and margins improved to 15.7% in the second quarter.
