The Space Shuttle Discovery/ STS82 landed at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 21 February, after a ten-day mission to service the Hubble space telescope. It is the second time that the telescope has been repaired and serviced in space. The Hubble was equipped with two new instruments, an imaging spectrograph and an infra-red, multi-object spectrometer during five spacewalks totalling over 33h. These included an additional, final sortie to repair damage to the telescope's heat-protective reflective foil. The next Hubble servicing mission is planned for 1999.
