After 20 years, Lord Colin Marshall will retire as British Airways' chairman at its annual general meeting in July 2004. He will be succeeded by BA director, and chairman of British American Tobacco, Martin Broughton. Air Macau has appointed David Fei as its new chief executive, replacing Zhang Hongying. Fei worked with Taiwanese carrier China Airlines, where his last post was head of ground operations in Taipei. Zhang is to take up a job with China National Aviation. The chief executive and chief financial officer (CFO) - Stefan Pichler and Norbert Kickum - of travel group Thomas Cook have resigned. Peter Gerard from shareholder KarstadtQuelle becomes interim chief executive, while Lufthansa CFO Karl-Ludwig Kley is interim CFO. Pichler held various management posts at Lufthansa, ending up as head of its marketing and sales operation. He moved to C&N Touristic, in which Lufthansa has a 50% stake, in late 1999. United Airlines has brought in Martin White as senior vice-president marketing. White has held marketing roles at Continental, Delta and US Airways, as well as Vail Resorts and marketing firm Brierley & Partners.
