Face the facts with Aircraft Interiors event director Katie Murphy....

How does this year's Aircraft Interiors Expo compare with the 2012 edition?

This year's event covers 18,000sqm which is the largest show yet. There are 58 new exhibitors taking stands and we have over 500 exhibitors from 26 countries.

In 2012 we attracted over 7,900 visitors from 87 countries, including representatives from 151 airlines, and for 2013 visitor registrations are certainly on track to welcome similar numbers to Hamburg.

What are the notable new features of this year's show?

We have a mobile app this year - sponsored by Teague - which is designed to help visitors navigate the exhibition halls and also includes show information such as a personalised agenda, exhibitor listings, product listings, exhibition floorplan and more. To download the app visitors can visit www.aircraftinteriorsexpo.com/app

We hope visitors were able to attend the Passenger Experience Conference which took place yesterday and it is a strategic goal of Aircraft Interiors Expo to continue to develop this conference.

If you're walking through Hall B7 then look out for the Passenger Experience Thought Wall. Each day we will pose a question encouraging visitors and exhibitors alike to share their specific answers and don't worry your answers can be anonymous! We will be tweeting answers to the questions throughout the duration of the show.

Are you seeing a boost in visitor numbers now that AIX is co-located with WTCE?

There are obvious synergies between Aircraft Interiors Expo and World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo and the feedback is that it allows visitors in the interiors field insight into what happens in the catering and onboard side, so we believe it's a great fit.

Are you seeing any trends in terms of exhibitors from particular sectors?

It's extremely encouraging to see exhibitors coming into the show for the first time who primarily focus on the software side of IFE. Covering games, music, satellite communications and software development, we have four new IFE software exhibitors including, DTI Software (Canada), planBmedia (Switzerland), Satcom Direct (USA) and Western Outdoor Interactive (India).

Space saving is also an area where we have seen some innovation, especially within the galley area.
