Sikorsky has sold two S-300C light helicopters to IPTN North America, with an option for four more, to be used for training army pilots.
"The Asia-Pacific region has continued to sustain healthy economic growth in recent years," says Linda Scott, Sikorsky's general manager for Southeast Asia.
IPTN North America is the USA-based unit of Indonesia's state-owned airframer Dirgantara Indonesia. The helicopters will support an Indonesian requirement to train over 100 pilots in the coming years.
"Specifically, Indonesia's economic success allows the country to fund a defence modernisation plan that maintains a minimally essential force in the country," she adds. "Sikorsky is honoured to be able to support Indonesia's modernisation efforts with our S-300C training helicopters."
The aircraft are likely to be delivered in late 2012.
