Alenia Marconi Systems, Elettronica and Ericsson Microwave Systems are to co-operate on the development of future multi-role active electronically scanned antenna technologies under a long-term initiative signed by the Italian and Swedish armaments directorates. A feasibility study will conclude this year, to be followed by a three-year development effort leading to the availability of a system demonstrator for use in a final validation phase. "The product vision is a true multirole electronics package capable of active and passive sensing, jamming and special communications," says Ericsson.
