Jet Airways has partnered with CAE to launch a new ab-initio pilot training programme.
In a statement, Jet says that through the programme, it aims to train more than 380 pilots over the next five years.
As part of the agreement, the first set of 60 cadets will begin training in the second half of 2017, with ground school and flight training at CAE’s flight academies in Phoenix and the Indian city of Gondia. Thereafter, cadets will continue with Boeing 737 type-rating training at CAE’s training centre in Bengaluru, India.
"With the introduction of this training programme, we’re creating fresh batches of highly skilled cockpit crew to augment our in-house talent pool," says Jet's acting chief executive officer Amit Agarwal.
Jet currently owns four CAE full-flight simulators: one for the Airbus A330, two for the Boeing 737s and one for the 777-300ER. The six-bay CAE training centre is located near the Bengaluru International airport.
