Jetstar will add a ninth Airbus A320 to its New Zealand fleet on 15 November, allowing it to increase services between New Zealand's three largest cities, while raising flight frequencies from Australia to Queenstown.
The airline will add up to 36 weekly flights to domestic and trans-Tasman services, which will increase capacity by up to 50,000 seats monthly.
It will add 20 weekly flights on the Auckland-Wellington route and another seven from Auckland and Wellington to Christchurch, starting 15 November.
In addition, the carrier will add four services on the Melbourne-Queenstown route and three services on the Sydney-Queenstown route to spur inbound tourism.
This new schedule will provide 131,000 additional seats on flights into Christchurch, the carrier said in statement.
"These changes affirm our commitment to New Zealand and will contribute significantly to the country's tourism industry, providing economic benefits as well as contributing strong job growth. Today, Jetstar holds 20% of the domestic flying market and employs more than 500 Kiwi team members," David Hall, chief executive of Jetstar Australia and New Zealand said in statement.
Additionally, the low-cost carrier will cancel its five times weekly service on the Christchurch- Queenstown route. The airline will also reduce services on the Christchurch-Gold Coast and Christchurch-Melbourne routes by one flight weekly, and will operate thrice weekly and daily flights respectively on the routes.
