A Kaman Aerospace K-Max owned by Woody Contracting in Summerville, Oregon, has passed the 20,000 flight hour mark, the first K-Max to do so. Tom Woody, president of Woody Contracting, says he uses the helicopter about 7h a day, or 1,700h a year, doing a range of work including logging, firefighting and construction-related services. Woody, who acquired the aircraft in 1996, says the secret to longevity for his one and only K-Max is "keeping the frame tight." The aircraft pictured was recently repainted and registered as N134WC.
